Film Review: Midway
This is a WWII movie of the old school.
It has the feel of 1960s war movies, and that is not a compliment.
Cliche-ridden, with appalling dialogue and sterotypical heroes and villains, it is carried by spectacular special effects (planes, ships, and explosions) and surprisingly sometimes hampered by some truly amateurish and appalling special effects.
This movie is terrible cinema, but enjoyable to a point (a boys-own tale with explosions).
What isn’t enjoyable at all is Ed Skrein’s absolutely awful American accent. It’s just embarrassing to watch.
This gets a half-decent score for the good special effects alone: 6.0/10.0.
