{"id":409,"date":"2018-11-06T12:09:41","date_gmt":"2018-11-06T12:09:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tenjin.co.uk\/blog\/?p=409"},"modified":"2019-01-15T12:27:23","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T12:27:23","slug":"film-review-widows-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tenjin.co.uk\/blog\/?p=409","title":{"rendered":"Film Review: Widows (2018)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right;\" title=\"Widows.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/tenjin.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Widows.jpg\" alt=\"Widows\" width=\"189\" height=\"300\" border=\"0\" \/>Widows uses a fabulous ensemble cast (the amazing Viola Davis, Liam Neeson, Michelle Rodriguez and Elizabeth Debicki) to tell a fast-paced story of four recent widows, forced by circumstance, to complete the heist their four husbands failed to fully complete.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s well written, well-paced, and with a highly-skilled director in Steve McQueen (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0986233\/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1\">Hunger<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1723811\/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1\">Shame<\/a>, and the awesome <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2024544\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\">12 Years A Slave<\/a>) \u00a0the film is head and shoulders above other capers movies.<\/p>\n<p>My only hesitation, and I\u2019m clearly in the minority here, is that just now again it\u2019s a bit\u2026 plodding, and you can\u2019t help think that in those moments it\u2019s wasting the talents of Viola Davis and Liam Neeson.<\/p>\n<p>Minor quibbles to one side, I\u2019d happily watch this again.
